State-owned Zijin Mining Group is a Global Fortune 500 company that mines, process, and sells a variety of automotive-relevant raw materials, including gold, copper, zinc, and iron. It is among the top 20 refiners of copper worldwide. In China, Zijin holds 75% of the country’s domestic copper reserves.
The company also owns a zinc smelter, as well as copper and gold mines in the XUAR. Zijin also holds a 17% stake in Xinjiang Tianlong (see Tianlong section in the chapter on aluminum).
